Meditate — It’s Easy!

Anything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you…

IT’S that time of year when we feel pressure from all directions to make things perfect, and often feel inadequate and more than a little stressed as a result. If you’re one plum pudding away from a yuletide meltdown, try doing a simple meditation for just 10 minutes a day.

People are often put off the prospect of meditating, thinking it’s a complex, mystical practice. It’s not! All you need to do is sit quietly cross-legged with finger and thumb touching to let in Prana, which is life force. Thoughts will come and go. Imagine yourself surrounded by a bubble of light — you choose the colour. Imagine the thoughts bouncing off the bubble and floating away.

Meditation is no more than sitting still and allowing the mind to rest, letting thoughts float away. You can visualise a place where you are very relaxed as you imagine pesky thoughts drifting off.

Set aside a regular time to meditate every day. Pop an alarm on your phone (with a soothing tone) and just do it. The less time you reckon you have for it, the more you need it. Here’s a little meditative mantra to repeat silently at the close of your practice…

May my heart be filled with loving kindness,

May I be well,

May I be peaceful and at ease,

May I be happy.

May my heart be filled with peace.

Namaste x
